Our client is a well-established, highly respected and growing diversified wealth management firm with operations in the Triad (central NC). We are currently conducting a search for their Managing Director of Tax Services position. The firm has a strong foundation built on integrity, dedication and commitment to its clients as well as its employees. The workplace environment is one that has resulted in very little turnover throughout its many years in business. Relocation package offered.

 

Position Summary:

The firm prepares individual, fiduciary, charitable, and partnership returns and makes estimated tax payments for its clients and the accounts it manages. This role requires a seasoned tax professional with a deep understanding of tax law, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional services to their clients.

 

The Managing Director of Tax Services will :

  • Lead the tax department overseeing the preparation and filing as well as outsourcing of tax returns.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive tax preparation strategy, including outsourcing options, to ensure the accurate and timely preparation and filing of approximately 1,000 federal and state individual, trust, estate, partnership, foundation, and gift tax returns while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Take responsibility for financial reporting for approximately 25 Family LLCs and respond to income tax notices for federal and state jurisdictions as needed.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the tax department to enhance productivity and client service delivery.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • CPA (other relevant certification) with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 7+ years’ experience in preparation and compliance.
  • Prior managerial experience, demonstrating effective leadership and team management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, essential for collaborating effectively with colleagues, client teams, and clients.
  • A continuous desire to learn and embrace technological advancements in the field.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and adeptness at multitasking in a dynamic environment. Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with QuickBooks, CCH Tax, and Workstream preferred.
