Our client, a well-established industry leader with headquarters in central NC, has an immediate need for a Director of Advertising due to an upcoming retirement.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the VP of Sales and Marketing, the Director of Advertising will be responsible for the following: 1) Plan, coordinate and direct the development and production of all company print advertising, including direct mail, catalogs, print ads, signage, etc. 2) Oversee the editorial department responsible for creating, editing and maintain all product and marketing copy for print, web and email messaging. 3) Maintain the integrity of the company brand through product information, marketing content, packaging and images for distribution through all sales channels.

Directly Supervises:  
Creative Services Manager, Managing Editor, Manager Digital Content, Print Shop Manager.  Indirectly Supervises: Advertising Department (16 staff), Print Shop (3 staff).

Major Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, members of the marketing group, and product managers to develop and execute advertising plans, establish production schedules, and recommend merchandising strategies.
  • Directs the editorial team to produce impactful product copy for print and electronic use. Supports company content marketing efforts with compelling white papers, case studies and email messages.
  • Establishes and directs an efficient workflow that assures all projects follow set schedules, including editorial, photography, design and layout, proofing, prepress, printing and fulfillment, and mailing.
  • Explores and implements new production procedures and processes that will enhance production and reduce costs.
  • Collaborates with product management and subject matter experts to produce accurate and timely content. Maintains a harmonious production process utilizing a team approach meeting department quality standards for all projects.
  • Manages the company's print requirements, analyzes pricing, and makes sure all are held to the same high standard for printing and fulfillment.
  • Develops and manages an annual budget for Advertising and Print Shop and ensures the department operates within budget guidelines.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field from a four-year college or university required.
  • Four years experience in the production of printed marketing material and managing staff in an advertising or related environment.
  • Knowledge of prepress and print production.
  • Exceptional people skills (the ability to communicate and manage in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
