Job Description

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Interface with outsource vendors to acquire materials at reasonable cost and in a timely manner; build productive internal/external working relationships.
  • Effectively manage orders with domestic suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Manage procurement process to optimize inventory levels on component parts to meet customer lead times.
  • Pursue cost reduction opportunities with existing suppliers and/or develop new relationships as necessary to minimize cost increases
  • Attend production and development meetings and review production/demand reports to determine purchasing requirements.
  • Issue, track and reconcile cost effective purchase orders considering lead-times, acquisition costs, freight costs and inventory levels.
  • Retain, organize and file records as they pertain to vendors, production and procurement in an organized fashion.
  • Maintain close professional interdepartmental relationships and support the needs of other areas to meet company goals.
  • Regularly review stock status reports to maintain proper inventory levels and identify system problems (BOM issues, etc.).
  • Offer constructive input on ways to improve procurement and inventory procedures, BOM, reports, etc.
  • Continually source new vendors for qualification.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • College degree preferred.  APICS certification desired.
  • 5-10 years relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient mathematical skills; ability to calculate figures, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations; cost-benefit analysis skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task simultaneously with rapidly changing priorities and limited resources.
  • Good organizational and problem solving skills; detail oriented.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to interface effectively at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
