Registered Veterinary Technicians (surgical & wellness)

Our client, a growing full service veterinary clinic, is expanding their practice and has an immediate need for TWO Registered Veterinary Technicians.  One RVT to work primarily in the surgical department and a second RVT to work primarily in the full service care department.

REPORTS TO: Full Service Vet Department Head (full service RVT) and Clinic Supervisor (surgical RVT).  

Responsibilities include:


•        Draw and administer drugs to surgical patients (dogs and cats only) by IM and IV

•        Intubate animal patients before surgery

•        Assist doctors

•        Restrain and handle cats and dogs

•        Patient check-in & discharge

•        Maintain cleanliness of dog, cat, and transport areas

•        Maintain humane cat traps

•        Prep animals for surgery

•        Prepare surgical packs (routinely clean surgical instruments)


•        Administer vaccines

•        Prepare sick and injured animals for doctor’s exam

•        Assist doctors

•        Conduct xrays

•        Restrain and handle cats and dogs

•        Patient check-in & discharge

•        Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas and exam rooms

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. This role will need to handle chemicals, bio-hazardous waste and requires lifting up to 50 lbs. Candidates must be able to restrain difficult cats and sometimes large unsocialized dogs without getting injured or endangering others.

These are full-time positions and each is expected to work 40 hours a week. Both positions are allowed overtime. Rotating schedule includes Monday - Friday 7am - 6pm.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Registered vet tech - Graduation from AVMA accredited veterinary technology program with license or eligibility to be licensed in NC as a registered veterinary technician.
  • One year's veterinary experience.  And for the surgical RTV position, surgical experience is a plus.
