SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT

 

Expansion position and career growth opportunity! Our client is a growing company cased in the Triad (in central NC). Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible be responsible for the finance activities within the group of companies. The SSA will have a strong financial background and full understanding of financial statements and accounting. The SSA may prepare and/or update complex financial models, typically in Excel. The SSA must be able to roll up their sleeves to help build the accounting infrastructure and processes that will support the business growth in a fast yet controlled manner as well as have the flexibility to move between finance and other general and administrative responsibilities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for month end and year end close processes
  • Annual budget preparation process
  • Prepares monthly asset, liability and capital account reconciliations and adjustments by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Performs monthly reconciliation of bank account
  • Contract accounting
  • Various periodical and ad hoc financial analysis as needed
  • Work closely with auditors around quarter and year-end financial statement audit
  • Work closely with external tax preparers
  • Various government and regulatory surveys and reporting requirements
  • Serve as backup for accounts payable processing
  • Other duties as needed by both internal and external reporting functions.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and GAAP.
  • Thorough understanding of financial statements.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with Advanced Excel skills and basic Word skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Life Science industry experience a plus.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
  • Awareness of business trends.
  • Experience with general ledger software.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Open to change and willing to learn new skills.
  • Ability to research ideas.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to show discretion and use good judgement.
  • Ability to work well with people.
