Lab Technician / Textiles / 3rd shift

$20.00/Hour
  • Follow instructions provided by the Lab Manager and QA Manager.
  • Perform testing on incoming fabric, finished fabric, and coated fabric in alignment with the company's production standards and customer specifications.
  • Record test results accurately and thoroughly on lab test forms, adhering to specified deadlines.
  • Operate and verify Instron testing equipment, including load cells, and ensure proper calibration.
  • Carry out specialized testing as requested by the Lab or QA Managers.
  • Test incoming material mixes based on batch cards.
  • Immediately report any test results that fall outside of specifications to the frame operators and production shift supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to safety protocols, including knowledge of fire safety equipment, eye wash stations, and handling chemical spills.
  • Understand the requirements for urethane coating and associated testing procedures.
  • Be familiar with various testing equipment, methods, and specifications, such as adhesion tests, work instructions, and procedures for processing incoming swatches and finished fabric specifications.
  • Participate in cross-training for at least one other department to stay productive during periods of low volume.

Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to stand on a tile floor for the duration of the shift.
  • Regular walking between the Quality Assurance and Production Labs.
  • Capable of lifting boxes up to 20 lbs., approximately 6 feet in distance.
  • Occasionally lift molds weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Required to hang and remove samples from poles located 12 feet high.
  • Place molds weighing 30 lbs. into presses approximately 12" in height.
  • Bend and stoop to retrieve test materials from lower cabinets.
  • Must be able to input data into statistical quality control software.
  • Basic proficiency in math and reading is essential.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must wear necessary protective equipment as per safety regulations.
