Job Requirements of Bilingual Legal Assistant/Workers Compensation:
- Processes new cases by taking initial prospective client calls; screens prospective client information with an attorney; answers prospective client inquiries.
- Maintains client satisfaction by clarifying client concerns; determines the cause of the problem; explains solution; refers issues to knowledgeable authority; follows up to ensure satisfactory resolution; relays comments and special needs; collects, analyzes and summarizes information from clients; keeps clients updated within firm protocols.
- Processes new cases and moves them through the workers’ compensation system by following Litify system protocols; inputs case information in Litify; completes and files the initial documentation with the appropriate IC forms and other documentation; ensures/obtains verification of filings; obtains copies and maintains client contact; requests reimbursements and ensures prompt payment of compensation checks from insurance company; processes incoming mail; obtains updated medical records; receives ratings and permanent restrictions; notifies attorney of client at MMI and ready to return to work.
- Prepares for mediations and hearings by scheduling mediated settlement conferences with all parties; schedules pre-mediation conferences with clients; updates medical records and obtains ratings and permanent restrictions; obtains statements of medical costs; drafts responses to discovery requests.
- Processes settlement and collects fees by obtaining settlement agreement from opposing counsel; prepares necessary settlement paperwork; schedules appointment with client to sign settlement documents; obtains Order approving settlement from IC; requests checks from opposing counsel and insurance company; receives checks for client and attorney fee; prepares receipt for client to sign for settlement check.
- Contributes to team effort by doing everything legally, ethically and morally appropriate to assist the Firm in helping clients and potential clients; forwards client comments and special needs to other staff members, as appropriate.
