Job Requirements of CNC Tool Maker:
Daily Duties
- Maintain precision machining standards, holding tolerances typically within ± .0005 or as required.
- Build, repair, and modify progressive dies, tooling, fixtures, and gauges used in metal stamping operations.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure components are manufactured to exact standards.
- Set up, program, and operate CNC and manual machining equipment, including mills and lathes, to manufacture precision tooling and components.
- Use precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, indicators, gauges, and height gages to confirm dimensional accuracy.
- Operate additional equipment as needed, including EDM wire and sinker machines, surface grinders, drill presses, saws, and manual machining tools.
- Diagnose machining issues, troubleshoot equipment or programming problems, and implement adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to verify parts meet required specifications and tight tolerances.
- Develop and modify machining programs using CAM software such as Mastercam or GibbsCAM to support efficient and accurate production.
Job Requirements
- 3 years of toolmaking experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CNC programming (Gibbs and/or Mastercam).
- Strong understanding of precision machining, tooling fabrication, and GD&T.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Experience working with tight tolerances and precision components.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

CNC Tool Maker
Advanced Personnel Resources is currently seeking an experienced Tool Maker for our client in Kernersville. This position is responsible for machining, building, and maintaining precision tooling, dies, fixtures, and components. The ideal candidate has strong CNC machining experience, knowledge of tooling processes, and the ability to work from detailed engineering drawings while maintaining tight tolerances.
