Research Compliance Administrator

$30.00 - $40.00/Hour

Advanced Personnel Resources is seeking a Research Compliance Officer with a well respected higher education institution. The Research Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures to ensure institutional compliance with laws and regulations governing the use of animal subjects, biohazardous agents, and radiation sources in research. This role manages the institution’s animal care and use program, research involving biohazardous materials, and studies using ionizing or non-ionizing radiation by coordinating the activities of the IACUC, IBC, and RSC compliance committees.


Preferred background:

  • Work history in Higher Education, Biomedical Research, Biosafety, Environmental Health & Safety, etc.
  • Research lab experience needed.
  • Administrative processes can be taught, but scientific and regulatory background is required.

Job Requirements:

  • Provide consultation to the Office of Sponsored Programs, faculty, staff, students, and administrators on interpreting federal research compliance regulations related to animal subjects, biosafety, and radiation safety.

  • Oversee the functions of IACUC, IBC, and RSC committees, ensuring they are properly constituted and trained, managing protocol reviews, maintaining records of protocols and official committee decisions, and submitting annual reports to regulatory agencies.

  • Develop, implement, and administer policies and procedures to ensure compliance by Principal Investigators and the University with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Create and implement comprehensive educational and training programs to promote compliance and accountability for administrators, faculty, staff, and students.

  • Manage the confidential institution-wide research compliance reporting system, including intake, review, investigation, and resolution of federal assurance applications.

  • Assist in preparing Research Compliance materials for the DORED website.

  • Serve as the primary contact for collaborations, subcontracts, and off-site research activities concerning animal care, use, and biosafety.

  • Support the Director of Research Compliance and Ethics with additional duties as assigned.
