Job Requirements of Production Supervisor:
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the Efficient Operation of the entire plant and the optimum quality production output; applies this responsibility toward Standard Packaging’s purpose as defined by Management.
- Responsible for overall shift performance in accordance to established key performance indicators (KPI’s) to include: safety, environmental, quality and production efficiency.
- Assumes accountability for efficiency, productivity, and achievement of performance according to standards, and implementing corrective actions where needed.
- Plans and controls production performance as measured against operating targets developed according to machine capabilities, manpower capabilities and projected business. Assigns crews to daily jobs based on work priorities and established schedules.
- Reviews machine schedules, order requirements, operating complications, and special instructions with the preceding and relief Production Supervisors.
- Ensures teammates are properly trained in all aspects of their jobs to include safety, quality, and production.
- Serves as a role model and lead our safety systems and processes that support our continuous improvement goals. Drive a culture of accountability and ownership
- Assures that product quality and production efficiencies meet or exceed established standards. Foster teamwork, lead change and demonstrate integrity.
- Controls operational costs, including but not limited to standard labor costs, inventory costs, scrap rates and equipment downtime, to ensure the production department operates within the set budget.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree is required or at least 5+ years in printing industry
- 3+ years of operations/value stream management in an packaging manufacturing environment
- 5 years of production experience
- High Speed Manufacturing experience
- Green/Black belt certification preferred
- Capable of critical thinking
- Understanding of manufacturing process
- Must have ability to delegate
- Must possess good conflict management skills
- Familiar with and excel at negotiations
- Strong time management and organizational skills. Good communication and analytical skills
- Knowledge of scheduling, planning or production schedules
- Ability to multi-task and produce highly detailed, quality work
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to resolve problems in a demanding, time pressured environment with tight deadlines
- Strong people skills: ability to build and maintain professional, trusting relationships with customer; ability to learn the culture and uniqueness of the customer environment and adapt to various personality types and reporting levels quickly and effectively
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office skills; highly proficient in Excel, able to manipulate data, send and receive e-mail, and access online ordering
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties, an employee is regularly required to talk or hear, walk or sit, stand, use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls, and to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Preferred specific vision abilities are close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to focus. Work Environment
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and will comply with government regulations regarding hearing protection.
- Occasional exposure to variations in temperature, noise, mechanical, electrical, or fumes.
