Job Requirements of Senior Human Resources Specialist:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field
- OR Associate degree with 4+ years HR experience
- OR 2 years of college and 6+ years HR experience
Experience:
- 3+ years of progressive HR experience, including recruiting and HRIS entry
- 2+ years working with an Applicant Tracking System (PeopleAdmin preferred)
- Experience in higher education or public sector HR strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Colleague (Ellucian) is a major plus
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication abilities
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Senior Human Resources Specialist
Advanced Personnel Resources is currently hiring for two Senior Human Resources Specialists to support a leading higher education institution in the Greensboro area . These are 100% onsite - NOT remote.
- Position 1: Focuses on the pre-hiring process —collaborating with departments, posting job openings, tracking applicant flow, and supporting hiring managers throughout the recruitment cycle.
- Position 2: Emphasizes data coordination —processing I-9s, W-4s, NC-4s, setting up direct deposit, and working closely with payroll to ensure accurate and timely onboarding.
These positions will pay up to $27 per hour!
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Applicant Tracking (Pre-Hire Focus) – 40%
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert for the college’s applicant tracking system.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to develop accurate job postings from approved job descriptions
- Post job advertisements and monitor applicant flow and selection processes
- Train managers on the hiring process and ATS system usage
- Coordinate interview logistics, review interview questions, and guide hiring committees
- Prepare and issue offer letters; ensure all approvals and documentation are complete
- Provide help desk-style support for hiring managers and applicants
- Ensure accurate records for compliance and audit readiness
Onboarding & HRIS Data Entry (Post-Hire Focus) – 35%
- Collect and process new hire paperwork (I-9, W-4, NC-4, direct deposit forms)
- Enter new employee data into the HRIS system within the required timelines
- Serve as primary contact for employee data updates, payroll coordination, and benefits record entry
- Work closely with payroll to ensure onboarding and employment transactions are accurate and timely
- Support orientation day and assist new employees with initial HR processes
- Maintain electronic personnel files and ensure compliance with federal recordkeeping guidelines
Compensation & Classification Support – 15%
- Assist with salary calculations, education-based increases, and stipends
- Evaluate job classifications and exemption status under FLSA
- Collaborate with managers on job descriptions and pay determinations
- Conduct internal pay analysis and document compensation decisions
HR Reporting & Special Projects – 10%
- Contribute to state and federal reports
- Support HR projects including employee recognition, audits, or compliance initiatives
- Cross-train and support other HR team members as needed
