Job Description

A technical person is needed. Someone with specific training and/or experience in Analytical Chemistry is necessary. If the person is a recent graduate with no work experience, they would need some specific analytical chemistry lab examples from school to allow for judgment of aptitude.

Degree:

Must have a degree in Biology or Chemistry

Attributes  needed are:

•    Ability to manage multiple assignments at once

Technical Skills needed  are:

•     Basic analytical laboratory bench skills (preparation of solutions, filtration, etc.)

•     Understanding or aptitude for working with hazardous materials (toxic, caustic, volatile, etc.)

•     Skills needed for quantitative transfer

•     Use of glass and mechanical pipettes, use of a balance, use of a pH meter, ability to prepare serial dilutions

•     Proper usage of glassware

•     Basic math skills for analytical chemistry (ability to calculate concentrations of solutions)

•     Ability to follow complex multistep process for sample preparation

•     Experience with basic analytical instrumentation (such as GC, HPLC)

•     Comfort with and aptitude to machine-smoke cigarettes

•     Good laboratory practices (GLP)

Skills:

·Creativity, thinking outside the box

·Willing to offer opinion and suggestions

·Analytical skills

Environment:

·Smoking environment in common areas and meeting rooms only

Hours:

·The hours are 8am – 5pm.  1 hour for lunch.  Flexibility for OT needed.

Dress Code:

·Must wear closed toe shoes.  No heels.  Khaki pants and a golf shirt.  No jeans.

PPE provided:

·A lab coat and glasses are provided

Job Requirements

Bachelor or master degree in Chemistry is preferred (analytical chemistry background is a plus)

  • Experience: 3-10 years of relevant experience at level preferred.  
  • Chromatography (GC-MS, GC-FID, HPLC-PDA, HPLC-MS, UPLC-PDA, UPLC-MS, others), Elemental (ICP-MS/ICP-AES) analysis background (including troubleshooting of such techniques) is a plus.
  • Method development and method validation experience is a plus
  • Good problem Solving Skills
  • The candidate will execute with excellence routine and complex tasks in the laboratory with minimal supervision. 
  • Knowledge on routine physical testing such as specific gravity, viscosity, pH,  flashpoint, Karl fisher, etc. is a plus.
