Job Requirements of Plant Manager:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily plant operations, including production scheduling, staffing, material flow, and equipment utilization to achieve output and on‑time delivery targets.
- Ensure a safe work environment by enforcing safety policies, conducting audits, and maintaining compliance with OSHA, environmental, and other regulatory requirements.
- Own product quality performance by partnering with quality teams to maintain standards, reduce defects and scrap, and address customer complaints or nonconformances.
- Manage plant budgets and cost structures, controlling labor, materials, and overhead while identifying and implementing cost‑reduction opportunities.
- Develop and execute production plans that align with customer demand, capacity, and inventory targets, using KPIs such as OEE, yield, and schedule attainment.
- Champion continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and increase efficiency.
- Hire, develop, coach, and evaluate supervisors and frontline staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance.
- Collaborate with maintenance, supply chain, engineering, and quality to coordinate downtime, new product introductions, and equipment or process changes.
- Maintain accurate operational documentation and reports, including production, downtime, safety incidents, and performance metrics for leadership review.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience in plant operations or engineering).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing or plant operations, including several years in a supervisory or management role.
- Demonstrated experience leading a production facility or major production area with responsibility for safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
- Proven track record implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership and people‑management skills, with the ability to engage teams, manage conflict, and drive change across shifts and departments.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and capacity management, including use of KPIs and data analysis tools.
- Solid knowledge of quality systems and standards, such as ISO frameworks, and the ability to maintain and improve quality performance.
- Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong financial and business acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and basic P&L understanding.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interaction with frontline staff, peers, and senior leadership.

The Plant Manager will be responsible for organizing, directing, and improving all manufacturing activities within the facility, including production, maintenance, quality, and safety.
