Job Description

Advanced Personnel Resources is currently seeking an experienced MAINTENANCE MECHANIC for our client in Greensboro. Ideal candidates should have at least 3+ years of recent experience with machine maintenance within a manufacturing setting (automotive or household repairs are not a suitable fit for this role).

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications following blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings.
  • Must be able to make repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, hoist, crane, and precision-measuring and testing instruments.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment, using electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Dismantles defective machines to install new or repaired parts, following specifications and blueprints, using precision measuring instruments and hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, using rags, brushes, and grease gun.
  • May install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, milling machine and other metalworking tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • May operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • May initiate purchase order for parts and machines.

Job Requirements

  • The ability to detect malfunctions by the sound of machines and equipment and to diagnose the problem or repair needed.
  • The ability to inspect parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments. 
  • Ability to adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Experience in lay out, assembly, installation and maintenance of pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and repair and replacement of gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Position requires good mechanical skills, hand/eye coordination and vision.
  • Must be able to read and write and understand job specifications, blueprints, manuals, instructions, gauges and measurements in order to calculate/estimate/locate installations, lengths, sizes and ordering of parts/supplies to install, maintain or complete repairs.
  • Mechanical skills involved include the use of an assortment of hand tools, power tools, hoists, forklifts, measuring instruments and shop equipment such as drill press, lathe, grinder and milling machine.
  • Physical requirements may include the use of ladders, lifts and the use of up to 100 pounds of force required in the use of hand tools.
  • Additional requirements include walking/standing, sitting, climbing, pushing/pulling, crawling, crouching/kneeling, reaching and bending/stooping.
  • Steel toe, electrical hazard safety shoes required.
  • Hearing protection is required in certain areas.
