Job Description

SUMMARY
Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment. Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment. Constructs and repairs structural woodwork and equipment in establishment. Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments by performing the following duties with minimal supervision. Performs basic metal fabricating using general knowledge of welding and proper torch operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
*Observes mechanical equipment in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of
trouble.
*Completes repairs in a timely and safe manner, observing all Lock Out/Tag Out Procedures.
*Dismantles equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts.
*Assists in the training of apprentices and new employees.
*Evaluates and suggests ways to eliminate reoccurring problems.
*Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements or reason for failure.
*Adjusts functional parts of equipment and control instruments.
*Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in equipment. *Lubricates and cleans parts and equipment.
*Starts equipment to test its performance.

*Documents supply usage to maintain supply and spare parts inventory.
*Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as
robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
*Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and
replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
*Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers, to
diagnose malfunction.
*Diagnoses and replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
*Pushes buttons and presses keys on robot controller, teach pendant, and programmable
controller to program automated machinery, such as robots, to operate automated machinery,
to test for malfunctions, and to verify repairs.
*Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines
and equipment.
*Maintains good housekeeping in and around work area.
*Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment.
*Reacts to change productively and works well with others.
*Utilizes basic welding and machining skills.
