Job Description

The Quality Technician is responsible for managing the submit process, including approvals and rejections, customer specifications and comments, and all related communications between customers and the company.

  • Complete housekeeping daily
  • Submit answers as they are received
  • Add rejection comments to folder and AS400
  • Release lots to ship as they are approved
  • Add approval comments to folder and Recipe Formulation system
  • Communicate any new customer requirements and/or revisions to all Quality Assurance personnel, verbally and in writing
  • Update and maintain customer specification spreadsheets and distribute as needed
  • Use computer program to update the file, and distribute a copy to the distribution list
  • Maintain daily rejection log
  • Hold lot folders for management for customer rejections
  • Pull lot folder and document customer comments
  • Follow guidelines and procedures for shipping
  • Release lots in the AS400 to allow shipment once a submit approval has been received
  • Document all customer lot comments in the recipe formulation system
  • Use a computer to access the recipe formulation system
  • Record shrinkage results from the previous day
  • Be in work area on time and at all times unless otherwise instructed
  • Assist co-workers as need when time and production allows
  • Prepare all available packages for shipment
  • Refer to the shipping guidelines and utilize the most cost efficient method
  • Assist in the minimization of product waste
  • Ensure that product received from manufacturing does not exceed what is requested and/or required
  • Provide feedback to the manufacturing areas when product is in excess of the required amount
  • Dispose of all waste product properly
  • Monitor supplies as they are issued and consumed

Job Requirements

  • Capable of performing accurate mathematical calculations
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions
  • Ability to prepare detailed records and reports
  • Have an understanding of and ability to operate instruments (gauges, dials, etc.) used in testing procedures
  • Ability to multitask and work under time constraints
  • Basic computer skills
  • Laboratory and AS400 experience a plus
