Advanced Personnel Resources, Inc. is recruiting on behalf of our client in the Winston Salem/Greensboro area for the position of Sales Manager In-Training. The ideal candidate for this role will have 3-4 years of sales experience in the furniture industry. This opportunity offers outstanding advancement potential, as the selected candidate will be groomed for the position of Sales Manager.  This opportunity will allow the selected candidate to work out of a home office and remote candidates in the Raleigh area are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Sales Manager In-Training will be trained and positioned to become the expert and leader in promoting and representing the company line of corporate, healthcare and higher education seating and tables. 
  • This individual will establish, foster and help create relationships with influential industry customers, designers, and decisions makers, furthering our presence in the contract furniture segment. 
  • He/She will provide ongoing leadership, coaching, support and development of the Sales Representative team. 
  • The Manager will be accountable for assisting and implementing programs, prospecting small and large projects to deliver top-line sales growth. 
  • He/She will establish and maintain sound customer and representative relations and assist in the handling of contract negotiations for key accounts.


Job Functions:

  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the industry including but not limited to market size, sub-segments, competition, trends, appropriate certifications, regulatory forces and issues.
  • Work with the team to develop the business plan, mission, and strategy.
  • Work with the team to determine marketing strategy to create and update literature for print, social media, and website application.
  • Become actively involved in industry associations and identify/participate in national/regional furniture design trade shows to increase brand awareness.
  • Analyze operations and logistics processes to determine room for improvement in delivery execution.
  • Access and review current and potential customer relationships.
  • Meet with the team to develop networking strategies.
  • Establish performance expectations/sales goals for independent sales representatives.
  • Prospect for customers utilizing various marketing methods including, but not limited to web marketing and field outbound calls.
  • Assist in building and maintaining current relationships with current and past clients.
  • Work to generating new business and developing deeper customer /dealer relationships.
  • Maintain all sales operations tasks and ensure timely follow-up regarding specific inquiries and issues.
  • Liaise with clients concerning installations, deliveries, product issues and payments.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn for daily use.

Job Requirements


  • 3-4 years of experience in high end furniture sales
  • Ability to travel 30-50%
  • Bachelors Degree Preferred
  • Discipline necessary to operate out of a home office
