Job Description

Client in Greensboro is seeking an experienced overhead crane operator for their manufacturing facility. Positions are on 1st (5am-2:30pm) & 2nd (2:25pm-11:55pm) shift Mon-Fri w/ OT and occasional Sats. Pay rate depends on experience between $12-16/hr. Job details are listed below. Experience:

  • Metal/Steel Processing: 1 year (Preferred)
  • overhead crane operator: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Forklift Operator: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Manufacturing: 1 year (Required)

Equipment Operation:

  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a overhead crane or other power equipment.
  • Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
  • Associates must maintain an active forklift certification.
  • Change fuel tanks on fork lifts as needed: participate in physical inventories; perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed.

Material Processing:

  • Use gauges, calipers, indicators, or tape measures for measurement.
  • Determining processing specifications such as materials, tool requirements, dimensions and tolerances by reviewing work orders and process sheets.
  • Print labels & apply to appropriate pallets for shipping.
  • Use RF scanner to scan products.
  • Review customer orders & cross reference SKU numbers for accuracy.
  • Perform various packaging and wrapping functions, as well as putting material on pallets for shipment.
  • Repair packaging and pallets as requested.
  • May be required to use computer for basic data entry.

Receiving:

  • Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations. Inspect material for accuracy and quality.
  • Efficiently stack and store product in appropriate area.
  • Maintain an organized work area.

Order Picking:

  • Efficiently moves product form staging and/or storage to production lines and/or staging docks.
  • Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.
  • Pull and prepare for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
  • Prepare shipments for shipping accurately and in a timely manner, as required.

Quality:

  • Ensure raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods are accurate, within customer specifications, and free of damage.
  • Report inventory variances and/or quality non-conformance.

Inventory:

  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained.
  • Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.

Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance:

  • Maintain a clean, neat, orderly work area, and help maintain the facility to provide a clean, safe work environment.
  • Will comply with all Standard Operating Procedures, corporate and site specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/ MSDS Standards.
  • Participates in safety meetings.

Maintenance:

  • Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.

Other Duties:

  • May perform other warehouse duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Overhead crane and forklift experience required
  • Basic reading and writing comprehension in English (to read work order instructions, safety and policy manuals)
  • Basic mathematical skills
