Regional Sales Manager

Advanced Personnel Resources is currently recruiting on behalf of our esteemed client for a Regional Sales Manager, which would cover the Western United States.  The ideal candidate for this opportunity will have an outstanding track record of selling business solutions to the Higher Education (college systems, universities, etc.) vertical. A Bachelor’s Degree, 5 years of sales experience in the higher education space, and the ability to cover a multi-state territory are all requirements of this opportunity.

Based on the West Coast - Region includes: Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, California. May occasionally travel out of the region to the states of Oregon and Washington.   

DEPARTMENT:  Marketing and Sales

Reports to:  Director

OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE 

The Distance Learning Region Sales Manager directs the large business acquisitions for the Educational group. The primary role of this position is to identify, analyze, and close significant business [sales] opportunities with college systems, major Universities, or other Distance Learning business opportunities. The Manager will grow the Distance Learning business through research and identification of large prospects. This position will work with the Director, Distance Learning to form partnerships and develop a market awareness programs.

•        Identifies, builds and maintains relationships with educators and administrators at community college systems, major universities, for-profit universities, and associations to identify, cultivate, and close new sales opportunities. 

•        Demonstrates selling skills such as questioning strategies, listening skills, negotiation strategies and closing techniques. Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed quotas.

•        Aggressively pursues and supports opportunities to grow sales to new and existing customers.

•        Regularly interact with customers to understand customer values for products and identify trends that imply change to these values; identify future needs and qualify as potential business opportunities.

•        Provides information on the external competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, new industry developments and standards, etc.

•        Develops a database of qualified contacts and leads through appointments, face to face calls, direct mail, email, networking and phone calls.

•        Maintain sales pipeline, following up all opportunities to progress sales to closure. Provides up to date pipeline opportunities current in Sales Force.

•        Maintains accurate record of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow up activities and include in Sales Force.

•        When requested, attend conferences/events to represent the Company DL; showcase solutions and products through live presentations and webinars.

•        Provide post-sales support to ensure successful implementation and residual sales

•        Travels to meet with school representatives to achieve company sales objectives. Travel required: 50-75%.

•        Perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Education:  Bachelor’s degree

Experience:  Minimum 5 years of sales experience required. Sales experience in the higher education space is required. 

Specialized Training/Skills: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to solve problems
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and contact management systems
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize work load
  • College level science research or education experiences a plus.  Some content knowledge of subject area is preferred.
